I would suggest you find a new friend. Flywheels don't get skinny. You keeping asking repair help questions in the CUSTOM forum. Use the correct forum for posting. The Festiva Store

The most important condition to evaluate whit a flywheel is heat checking....this a radial cracking in the contack surface cuased by excessive heat cylces on the metal.
Discoloration is not necessarily bad...glazing can be but can typicall be removed in place with some sand paper.Joe Lutz

^^^ Not all good advice, but some answers are correct. If you have doubts about your flywheel, go to your local junkyard and ask to see a replacement one for your car, measure the thickness and compare it to yours. It's the quickest and cheapest way to check it. If it checks out, take yours to a machine shop, have it resurfaced and put it back in with the new parts.

yes, I'm sure. Those surface grinders are out there, but not very common. With that said, most stepped flywheels only get lathe cut, and not finish ground. It works, but it's not the best (or correct) way to refinish it.Jim DeAngelis

Their is a cylinder head shop down here in Greenville, SC that grinds the flywheels the proper way as FB71 says. You may be able to get one of those kind of shops where you are at to do it also.1960 willys pickup
