My outer bearings are gone with the exception of the inner ring. i cant get it off the spindle with a bearing puller. Is there a better way to get it off?

There are pictures on this site somewhere of someone using a bottle jack, spare tire and chain to pop the spindle out of the hub (anyone know where). I have used this method and it works well. Put the rear end of the spindle (axle side, outer bearing race) on the bottle jack. Use the slots in the spare wheel to chain down the hub and jack it up. With enough pressure it will pop right out. Basically a poor mans shop press. Pictures are more
helpful to explain, hopefully this is clear though. - Chris

You mean you're 15? Hmmm. Please tell me you're getting it ready for when you get your driving permit. Anyway. Sounds like the bearing spun on the spindle shaft. If so it is likely that enough frictional heat built up to weld it to the shaft. The shaft will be galled up and you may need a whole new spindle. I dont have one for you, but I'm sure if you find that you need one, someone here will have a spare to get you going again.'89L 110k mi. BP/G swapped

I used a three arm puller I bought at Harbor Freight (actually, the three puller set) to pull my inner bearings off the spindle. It was stuck on pretty tight.
You might try that. If you get the same set of pullers I did, you'll need to combine the arms of the smallest puller with the main body of the medium puller for it to work without taking all the brake shoe stuff off.
Good luck.

Every car I have owned has had a turbo in it, until I bought this latest festiva.. I plan to fix that though.

I've had this problem many times....A very common bearing problem...for all cars.
The key to remember is not to damage the spindle.
Using a Dremmel tpy tool or the equal with a cut off wheel. You want to create a slit in the remaining "inner" parallel to the acxis of the spindle. It's best to create 2 slits 180° apart. DO NOT. cut to deep into the bearing that you are near the spindle. Once the slit(s) are created...using a pry-driver or similar tool..pry the slit open...the bearing should pop off or at least separate enough to be knocked off.
Any lumps or scabs on the spindle should be stoned away.Joe Lutz

We plan to try and cut it but i gota get the tools Thursday. Ill take some before and after pics if it works and post it for future reference. We need pics add to help us fresh festy wanabe mechanics. I did this myself because my regular mechanic said i should be able to handle it. He was right until i hit this snag with not having the right tool.
PS. Is there a place to find a new spindle? Its hard top find festivas in LA pick your parts.:protest:1990 Ford Festiva

I agree. This is the way I'd do it if I couldn't knock the race off with a punch.
