Why, exactly, does the mechanic say it's the carb? Ask him to explain what the carb is doing to make the car buck. My car bucked on startup after I replaced the ICM. I don't think it was the carb. The bucking went away by itself upon restarting. Pretty sure it was spark timing.

My first Festy bucked like a wild bronco when I took off. I compensated by feathering the clutch when people were riding with me, and simply ignored it when I was driving alone.
That's exactly what I've been doing and yeah, I can live with it for the most part, but I don't want to put excess strain on the vehicle.

find a used one (there are a couple on here) and put that one in. If the problem persist rebuild the stock one you took out.

I have a rebuild kit, but I don't really know that much about carbs, so I'm a little lost here. Any help would be great, Thanx!

If it's driving you nuts I'd recommend rebuilding or replacing the carb, whichever is cheapest. There don't seem to be any aftermarket carbs for the Festiva, unless you want to go custom. The stock one is more than adequate for the B3 engine; some here have even used it on a B6 with no problems.

I can check and see if the repair manual I have has the rebuild instructions - if it does I'll pm you
