Is there an actual pressed in ball joint in the control arm? Or is the ball part swedged or hammer forged into the control arm? Can you buy just a ball joint and press the old one out and press the new one in?

I never saw a ball joint listed as a part. So i figured that it was not a replaceable part. I guess i'm just to old school! I'm to use to thinking type1 VW beetle trailing arms. Pay 12 bucks for the joint. Press it out, press it in and get on with it .Last edited by drof 89; 03-16-2009, 01:19 PM.Is that someone there ??? 1981 VW diesel pickup---1988.5 Suzuki Samurai tin top---1993 Festiva---1974 Bricklin SV-1 ( very thirsty basket case)---2003 Tracker(bells and whistles)

The ball joints are not servicable....they are replaced with the lower control arm....they cost about $45 a piece.
Unless you own a Mopar...the service free ball joints are superior...unless you want to crawl under the car every month and pump grease...miss one month or let road crime to stick to all of the grease and they're shot.Joe Lutz
