  • 1.8 fuel cut out?

i have a 94 escort gt with 1.8 it has ben made into a roundy round race car (circle track) i bught it for a bp swap into my festiva, but it acts like fule cut out. i was moving it to the shop down the road and i drove it but when i took of it was ok til bout 15mph it started to act like fuel cut out but it has a new fuel pump. it does it in second and third but fourth it dont it just bogs down and gets up to speed. i checked grounds fuses nuthin chages it. it also idels at 25 hundred rpms and kind of goes up and down between 25 and 2 thousand rpms if that helps

ok i drove it again and if u slightly push the gas peddle it doesnt do it but if u try to get on it like at all or just give it some just to get moving quickly if gets fuel cut out liek hardcore still

Probalbly not ignition related....it would run for do-do at all conditions.
Probalbly not fuel...it would not idle at 2.5K
Park/Neutral switch could cause the goofy idle but does not explain the slugishness
I'm thinking the air inlet system...mass air flow....bad sensor or connector...or...the Idle By-Pass is stuck open.

I assume you plugged in the connector on the VAF? Also check the coil wire. I forgot to plug mine in a few times when I've had the intake off.

i would say that the tube going from the VAF to the trottle body has a crack on the bottom or anywhere its very common..DUCT TAPE.. thats why when you hit the gas the engine torques forward and opens the crack killing it. if the intake is all you messed with i would say that you tore it more.. and if you ever try to start one of these without the VAF it starts for a sec then dies.

Intake tube leaking, throttle position sensor unplugged, idle speed control unplugged, fuel low

                          These are my guesses

i think it is a bad wire becuase today i was messing with it and found a bunch of wires spliced and with coding missing. so looks like got to go throug all the wires
