Head bolt question

What is the name of the type of socket used to remove the head bolts?

The head bolt head is kind of a star shaped with the points rounded off.

What size is it?

I think you are right. I went back and searched for the second time and run across a thread talking about a stripped bolt head, and that's what mechanicalDJ said. I'll go try it and confirm. BTW, thanks derick.

and PS:

buy a very high quality chrome socket and NEVER use an impact on it(keeps it around for a long time) easy to strip the 12 point head or socket
