  • Front Strut Mount Question

I recently replaced my front struts with KYB GR2's and also replaced my strut mounts. My question is when I removed my old struts and mounts, a quantity of 2 silver washers fell out from one of my old strut mounts. I have read on this site that these washers act like an actual "bearing". I just assumed that the new KYB strut mounts had these washers installed in them and I went ahead and installed the struts without the 2 silver washers. A friend at work said that I should have reused these silver washers and that they are not part of the new KYB mount.

Was I supposed to use these 2 siver washers with the new strut mounts or are they part of the new mount.

Also, there was a litlle black plastic washer about the size of a nickel that fit on top of the spring cap. I installed them back on top of the cap but I did not know if I was supposed to.

I have tried to find a detailed repair sequence on this site but cannot find one. I am sure there is one.

I am getting confused and want to do this right.

any help or advice would be appreciated.

yes, you are supposed to fit the washers back. they do act as a kind of bearing. you are supposed to fit all washers back that came out initially.
