my festiva was leaking fuel so i had it replaced by a shop on Saturday. well today it started to leak and i brought it back in and they tried to tell me that i crushed the fuel tank with the strap that held it in.??????? i told him that there are no straps nd he said "well.......i guess you dont know that all cars including this golf cart (pointing to festiva) have a gas tank strap. i laughed and walked out. feeling less intelligent than i was when i walked in. am i right that there are just 4 bolt that hold it up?

I believe you are right. I was under mine the other day and I am pretty sure there are only bolts holding it on. I'd call the Better Business Bureau on them. Odds are they did not fix it correctly to start with, if they even looked at it.http://www.cardomain.com/id/hawkdoc60

I dont get it. If they replaced the tank how could you crush it with the straps ? Also if they think it has straps then they must not have replaced it. Did you look up under the car and see if there is a new tank under there ? How much did you pay for this service ? Considering the golf cart remark I think Id find somewhere else to take my car.sigpic

these commenents where made by the owner. i was just told by the person that "fixed it" that he is willing to fix the problem at his cost. and there is not a new tank the told me that git a usd tank and that the mech. told owner that it might leak and he was told " i dont care put the tank in the car" so it should be fixed finally. i am just confused where they are seeing straps on the fuel tank. i dont see them.1973 Cb750 haven't touched it yet with no idea what I am planning on doing with it

liar
I took my Jeep in to a dealership to have them replace the control cable on the vent door.
They handed me an outrageous bill to pay and said that they had to take the whole dash out. I had a mechanical fuel gauge which I had capped off on the engine firewall. I pointed out that there was still residual pressure in the teflon lined stainless steel braided hose. I told him that they could not possibly have removed my dash. I only gave him half of the money, told him to give me my keys and said I would be back. I never returned there ever again and they dealership never ever phoned or contacted me.
I hate liars. The Festiva fuel tank is small and light. I change my own. Only 4 bolts.
I don't trust anyone with my car.
Once, a mechanic who did an oil change offered to adjust my timing on my Chevy Nova for free. Since it was for free, I let him. It was running bad all the way home. I went to loosen the distributor hold down bolt to readjust the timing and the two pieces of the clamp just fell apart! Imagine if it twisted while I was driving and hit a bump. Thanks a lot Mr. Mechanic. Like I said before. No one touches my car except me.
Even if it's for free.

How much did they charge you for that Jerry? Ask him to show you the straps...there are no straps...If you spent a lot of money, then it might be worth it to call the BBB and see if you can git yer money back! Oh, and don't go back there again!89' Maroon and black Festiva LX with a sunroof. :alien:

Mr. Lube
I even went in to Mr.Lube for an oil change and filter and the grease jockey couldn't even remember to put the oil cap back on properly. What a mess under the hood + I had to get another cap. I went back and complained. They just shrugged their shoulders and denied that he left it off. No compensation.
Now I do my own synthetic oil changes.
Keep your paws off my car.
