  • Bad Vibration in Steering Wheel and Seat at Idle

When car is idling, I am feeling the engine vibrating worse than normal in the steering wheel, seat and floorboard. I suspect it is a bad engine or transmission mount.

I am also getting a shimmy when car is rolling at any speed when going straight. I just had my tires balanced and front end alignment done. I was reading somewhere on this site where a bad transmission mount could be the culprit.

From these symptoms, does it sound like a transmission/motor mount is the problem?

bad tranny mount would create a clunk noise when taking off or letting off the gas. Or in between shifts. While cruising there would be no movement unless you were on and off the gas...or you hit a bump.
I would take the car back and have the balance and alignment rechecked.

When idling what are your rpms? If you give it a little gas to raise rpm's does the vibrating stop?
