  • filter under pressure?

Does the fuel system on a fuel injected festiva hold its pressure after it's shut off? I have to change the fuel filter and would rather not find out without asking first!I didn't see anything in the Haynes manual about it.

Well according to the shop manual you're suppose to disconnect the electrical plug at the fuel tank while the engine is running and after the engine quits the fuel pressure is relieved. I would also consider removing the gas cap in case there is any pressure build up in the tank.

      not much pressure at all

since the fuel lines are only held by spring(style) hose clamps to the filter

the hard part is to remove the fuel filter from the pinch bolt bracket and the lower hose clamp

      well have fun!!!

I replaced my fuel filter without releasing the pressure and didn't loose that much fuel, but don't try to light up a cigarette afterwards...

Yea i saw those spring clamps and the rusty screw that clamps the filter tight in the bracket! I think i'll change to stainless worm screw clamps. I just seems alot safer. Thanks
