whine coming from around distributor

I have a whining sound coming from around distributor, also the distributor seems to be vibrating a lot. Could this be a problem with the distributor or a problem with the cam. Seems to stop when I rev it up.

Take any or all of these measures to help you chase it down. Tighten distributor hold down bolt/s. Remove dist. cap and push rotor button down to seat. Replace cap. Check for vibration at idle, mid range and high range idle. If it is solved you may be home free but I would check dist cap and rotor button for damage!! If it is dead.........

but a new (used) distributor in, sounds fine now..
