  • Compression only 90 pounds in #2 cylinder

1991 Festiva EFI with Automatic Transmission, three cylinders are between 120 pounds and 135 pounds and number two is only 90 pounds.

I am idling a little rough and acceleration is a little boggy at first but then I run out good and you would think nothing is wrong.

It's been this way for about 5000 miles and seems about the same.

Has anybody had any experience with this that might know what it is and what is likely to happen if I keep running it this way?

I'm hoping that it might just keep running this way for a long time.

There are 158,000 miles only on the car.

Could be a stuck valve? Try chemical cleaner to remove carbon buildup.

And the throttle plate wide open. At 90 psi he probably does not have a stuck valve.

Most important question....are you burning oil...if so the rings are shot in the no.2 cylinder.

I would not be surprised if the low reading was valve related.

just though of this as well, smell your oil! you may have a leaking injector and it's washing down that cyl which would explain the low pressure. swap injector 2 and 4 and report back. if the symptom follows the injector, there you go!
