  • Noisey fuel pump

    Just replaced head gasket now fuel pump is making a noise and car is not goin to great ... any tips would be great thanks .Wife very angry now...

    Mechanical fuel pump? Properly seated on cam shaft during head replacement??

      Sorry, forgot to put the details of the car in...

      1997 ( May) Ford Festiva Trio 1.3L... Electric pump,
      Wife still angry ...She says not at me but I cant be too sure...

        Not so sure about your make or model.
        If you have a conventional electric fuel pump...it can be accessed from the cabin...inder the rear seat under the carpet. Access will be self evident.

        Once the pump is removed...
        l Look for a clogged screen....the pump is starving for gas.
        Look for a loose tube...the fuel is dumping back to tank.

        If you for got to connect the vacuum line to the Fule Pressure Regulator at the fule rail The engine will take onto much air and the fuel will dump back to tank.

        How would you describe the noise you hear?

          how is ur gas milage?...dropping gas quick might be leaking or letting air in??? i dunno tough 1...i let the veterans handle this 1

            Only happened since the head gasket repair ??

            It sounds to me like the fuel return is restricted and is almost like dead heading the fuel pressure ??

            Not 100% on this one , but maybe someone pinched a hose when taking apart or upon reassembly .
