I've got oil leaking in my BP's dizzy; I don't know if the bearing or a seal is the cause, but I wanted to know if it can be repaired, and where can I get the parts. I check both at the auto parts store and the junk yard, and they both ask way too much for my taste, especially just to repair a leaky, but otherwise functionnal distributor. Any ideas?

Well first, because as he used to be a Ford tech, he may know what to do in that particular case and where to find replacement parts, and second, putting the question in a thread instead of a PM will let others chime in, if they ever had the problem and found a solution. The left lane? Are you crazy!!! I never drive in the left lane...It's full of freaks driving the wrong way and charging right at you!!!

I think he means the oil is leaking INTO the dizzy, not from around it.
George, go easy on the man, n-k?
PR, you're not going to find repair parts for the dizzy. The current state of auto repair supplies is "remanufactured units". There's not enough money in small parts to justify the inventory.
Here's my suggestion; get another dizzy from the boneyard, and disassemble it. You'll need to drive out the pin on the shaft that holds the drive tab. I'm not sure if its a lip seal or o-ring that seals the shaft to the housing. If it's an o-rings, they're prettu easy to source. If it's a lip seal, you'll have to locate a retailer or wholesaler that specializes in seals and bearings.Jim DeAngelis

Some retail stores have accsess to most seals. They wont list it in the e-cat though. You'll have to find someone willing and able to look it up by dimensions. If you hace a dial caliper, you can give me the specs and I can try to find it thru BCA.Going old school...

I supposed in the meantime I'll have to get a new one... Crap, that sucks!!! As soon as I have a new one, I'll start tearing the old one appart to check out the seal's dimension. Thanks for the replies everybody! The left lane? Are you crazy!!! I never drive in the left lane...It's full of freaks driving the wrong way and charging right at you!!!
