the wire on an aftermarket tach for the tach signal needs to tap into the yellow wire coming off the coil to get the spark signal

ok my tach needs a 12volt power sorce for when the key is turned on. when it was in the car when it was still carbed the red wire whent to the positive sid of the coil on this coil would the bigger black wire be the one i should splice onto? because all you aother guyses stuff jsut confused me and sounds way to hard when its seam it aint i just wana know if the bigger black wire is waht suplies the soil with a 12volt sorce with the key turned on.
