  • ERGENT!!!tps problem

ok i changed the throttle body to the three prong tps. the car will start once and will idle fine but as soon as you hit the gas it shuts off? and wont start again but i wait about 5 to 10 mins and it will do it again

    I assume it's adjusted?

Do you still have the problem with your fan coming on when it shouldn't? The fan relay sends a signal to the ecu and the ecu thinks the car is hot so this could be the cause.

unplug the fan relay and see what happens.

I had an ignition switch problem that caused my fan to always be on and I had a heck of a time starting it.

Once the festiva harness is modified like in my guide they are the same. So switching them won't make a difference. If you think it's fuel related then changing a harness shouldn't help.

Look at the fuel problem 1st.

Is your VAF wired correctly? Mine got unplugged while driving, making the car die as soon as I gave it gas, but would start again every few tries, but would idle a bit roughly...
The left lane? Are you crazy!!! I never drive in the left lane...It's full of freaks driving the wrong way and charging right at you!!!

well my car runs now i put a diffrent pump and a fuel cell in it. but mine wont run good with the egt maf but will run better with the festiva maf. i can rev it but slowly now but i have a wire problem with the maf. the white wire second to last wire on the maf plug is unplug the car will run and will rev slowly, but with the wire the car wont start. when running with out the wire and i plug it in the car will shut off so i aint sure whats going on now

Sounds like major air (VAF) or vacuum leak...gasket on the TB not properly sealed.

The fuel pump relay is energized teo ways.
First while the engine is while the engine is started.
Second after the engine starts...the VAF has a swicth activated by the paddle to keep the fuel pump running.

This circuit is for dasety....if the car is in an accident and the engine stalls the lack of air flow into the engine will close the paddle and shut off the fuel pump.

To prove the problem is in the VAF...start the car with the VAF proped slightly open...or just to prevent it from fully closing....or....there is a test connector that can be jumoed to force the fuel pump on....the test connector is located between the ignition coil and master cylinder.

The jumper is in stalled between the 2 pins of the connector that has a green w/ red trace and black wire.

If the jumper keeps the engine running the problem is with the VAF or wiring to it...If the jumper does not keep the engine running...the problem may be with the fuel pump relay.

The fuel pump relay has two coils...on energized by the satring syatem and the other energized by either the VAF or jumper.

                          Hope that helps.
