  • 96 Aspire Crank seal still leaking

So I changed my Crank seal for the 2nd time. This time I removed the oil pump and made sure it was sealed properly, and oiled when installed. I also make sure the mating surfaces for the oil pump and block were clean and oil free.

then I did the oil pan seal and threw on a newer oil pan.

I just don't get why it still leaks. I really just want to give up on the 96 at this point. Oh and I also had the alternator crap out on me as well. I had to snag the one off of the Red BP car.

Anyone know how to stop the leak? it drips really bad and I can't drive it anywhere.

you sure you're using the propper size seal? only other thing i can think of is a damaged pump/housing allowing too much pressure to the back of that seal (it shouldn't see any pressure there).

If you pull it off again, look for a ridge where the seal rides on the crank. The old seal may have worn a groove so the new one can't seal. They make a special seal that includes a sleeve if this is the prob.
      Going old school...

it was smooth I looked for scoring and such and it looked ok. I am thinking I am just going to part it out and drive my 81 dodge pickup till I get my BP aspire on the road.

I have changed my output shaft seals from the CV axle to the transmission like 3 times... they STILL leak.. i just have a piece of cardboard in the driveway to catch the drip...

no its not the BP car, its the 96 4 door rusty daily lemon terdbox... Can't do anything but put another B3 in it, and I don't want to do that. Its not worth it.

When you lube the new oil seal lips do you use the amber /blue disc brake wheel bearing grease ? the black moly grease is not a successful substitute for some seals as they will leak.

I just used 10W30 oil. It ended up being the cam seal, it was sitting out of the head completely when I pulled the cam gear off. The part out is delayed for now!

After all the effort it is GREAT to get a WIN!
I still have this Festiva which cuts out after a very short idle from cold with new battery fitted. Then all the clicking electrical noises are to be heard!
Motor will not start [no injector pulse is present UNTIL "things" cool down after a few minutes ,and the process is repeated again with the same fault!
Has anybody had faulty 80 amp fusible link faults in a 1996 Festiva /Aspire near the battery???.....and would this make the main control relay appear to be clicking ALL the injectors /ams etc to be MANY clicking noises.?????
                      HELP Please!
