  • Fuel Filter

    Hello,
Hope im posting this in the correct forum.

I have a '90 Festy. a small white cannister (fuel filter?? - numbers on cannister are 11432 followed by 750) with one hose coming in and arrow pointing towards the firewall and another hose going out. This part has a steady stream of gas flowing out. While im no mechanic i am williing to get dirty enough to buy an 8 or 10 dollar part and try to correct the prob. myself w/o paying mechanic labor cost. Does anyone know if this is a fuel filter for sure ? and if so..something that is fairly easy to replace without messing anything else up ?

Appreciate any insight someone might have.
    Sincerely,
    Frank

Well, thats a fuel filter. If it is leaking from the can itself, as in it has a crack then just replace the filter. 33204 is the wix part number. If you don't have an O'Reilly's near you any parts store can interchange the number for you. Let me know if this helps.

you can use a universal filter so long as it has the right size inlet and outlet on it. I bypassed my old filter this way too and I buy one from autozone for like 3 bucks when I change it.

Would it be safe to assume you did this because the damn thing was frozen in the holder? Id be very interested in seeing how you mounted the universal 1.

yes....because of the rust and hassle...I went the easy route. It is actually just an in line one and not mounted. It is just cut into the fuel line about 8 - 10 inches from the fuel rail.

I think you had better check the arrow and if I am correct that should point in the flow direction for the filter to work correctly, check the hose you connect to the arrow end is for the carburetta, it should be easy enough to see which end goes to the fuel tank :glasses9::glasses9:

The pictured filter isnt the stock one. The stock one will run you about $25. Disconnect your battery and depressurize the system before you install the new filter if you have EFI.

Wow, I hope its carbed with that filter, the pressure from a fi pump would pulverize that little canister...

                      Thanks

Sorry i havent had a chance to respond, especially to Mr. Fish. Thank you for your help a couple of days ago. I replaced the filter with a 6.05 version from carquest.
