  • Cleaning out B6 Valve Cover

I suppose this is just a "repair" item.

I removed one of the little covers from inside the top of my B6 valve cover. It's the one near the PCV valve hole.

I surmise that I should use some thread locker on the little screws to reattach it, since if one of those screws came out they could get down in the engine and wreak havoc.

There is also a gasket like material left over. Should I just use black RTV?

I didn't take the larger cover off the underside.

that gasket like material was double sided tape to hold the baffle in place during assembly. you don't need anything there now. yes, either red loctite or stake the screws in place.

In addition to being the oldest thread revived today, this one also answers the question, "Why use the search feature?" Answered my question perfectly!

i think people edited about searching makes the forum just as bloated as thread questions that get answered with 3 or less additional posts.

Why do a search? LOL There is a band of members ready to try and humiliate you for not searching, and they link you anyways.

I chemically cleaned my V/C to get the varnish (sp) off.
I did not know it was double back tape.
However, I would us black or grey RTV...hi temp oil reistant...jus to prevent any noise.
theose screws are small and I can't imagine them holding the cober all that secure.

The early B6 and B3 share the exact same valve cover, so what does it matter?
