  • No headlights

Can somebody tell me the approximate location of the headlight relay and what color wires feed the headlights? '92 model. Has AC if it matters.

I'm away from home and manual. No headlights but have dash and parking lamps.

I'm not sure of the location of the relay, but Haynes says the wire colors to the headlights are red/blue and either red/yellow or red/white. The wires at the relay are listed as red, red/blue and red/green.

It is on drivers side sort of behind the battery. For the record. 91 - 96 Escort relay will work. Just have to break off a little tab.

I have had the same problem and the first thing to check is the main fuse links by the battery, I had a corrosion problem and it was the brown fusible link, check for a supply at both sides I use one of the cheap screw driver testers with a lamp inside and a crocodile clip (with a lead) to test, do that first then work down stream, my 92 does not have a relay according to my Gregory's manual.

Well, there's two relays that click when you turn the headlights on. One on the right side, under the air cleaner. That must have something to do with the AC operation? Horn?

Then, there's another one, below and in front of the battery. This one makes an intermittent buzzing when the light switch is turned on. The wire colors on it are red, red, red/green or red/blue and one white wire. Only problem there is the two red wires are hot all time whether the headlights are on or not.

I have a '90 model sitting right beside my '92 I'm working on and it doesn't have that relay.

              I'm not having much luck.
