Yeah, thought I'd be taking it to a machine shop after those broke off.
Any abnormal wear in the head besides the fore mentioned pitted #1 exhaust valve? Oil was changed at 3K interval and I had no issue with engine till the exhaust gasket burned/corroded through around #1 cylinder.
Was running slight advance on timing, but nothing too outrageous ran great. Better pickup than Big Blue, but lower MPG too.

nope, everything looks good; piston crowns, cylinder walls.

Lots of rusty parts, though. Had to get a coolant pipe (did I say that already?), and all the front core/freeze plugs were rotted. One had a hole in it. All are replaced now.

Haha... im working on this but its going from my parts car to my daily driver. had a catastrophic valve failure. so im switching head... using a new Overhaul kit. I'm stuck at the head i cant get the booger off of there. Nothing holding it just wont seperate from the block.

take a rubber mallet and tap it in several areas...if that doesn't work, BEING CAREFUL, pry it with a screw driver.. then when it is off, polish the head and block area where the mark was to remove sharp edges.
