  • lowbeam works sometimes?

good old 92 looses it's low beam after switching to high and then back to low ?
Think it could be the multi switch??
Fuseable links ok, both relays on fenders click on and off and are spotlessly clean inside, taking a jumper wire at the multiswitch connection the headlights will go on
Any one had this? , bad multi switch that is??
Aspires and Sways all around, Miata B6 installed, KYB G2Rs just installed in front. Wish for coil overs someday.

I would agree with you that the headlamp switch is probably faulty. If the low beams work before you switch them to high beams, but don't work after you go from high to low beams, then that rules out a few things.

What about when you are in low beams an use the "Flash to Pass", by pulling the switch all the way towards you, do the low beams go out when you let go of the switch?

Replacing the headlamp switch will probably fix your problem. If you want to do some resistance checks on the headlamp switch to verify your diagnosis, the steps are in both the Haynes manual and the Ford shop manual. If you don't have either of those, email me at qaking@cox.net for details as they are too lengthy to post.

          re headlights

OK , I took the strg whl off, removed up & low column cvrs, loosened multiswitch clamp, slid swtch up & off column, removed headlight switch from multi switch, dissassembled the switch on the kitchen counter, turns out the mechanism is a sliding type contact which not only was a little corroded, but also there was grease from factory install which may have held the slide contacts open. Used 400 grit to shine the contacts and slide, regreased with fresh grease, reassembled, low beam works perfect.

            awesome!

Nothing quite as satisfying as fixing something yourself and all it cost was a little bit of your time!
