  • Transmission fluid milky

    Hello,

I have put a couple hundred miles on my newish transmission I got from Festyboy, and I went and checked the level today.

It has become sort of milky in color, still red, with a bit of a Strawberry Nesquick look going on. This is a manual transmission so there is no antifreeze getting into. Does anyone have any idea why it would be milky?

The transmission was sitting outside when I bought it, and I am guessing maybe there was a little bit of water in it when I installed it. That is the only thing I can think of.

That may be the problem. Id flush it and put fresh fluid in and see if that takes care of it.

Maybe you put Strawberry Nesquik in by mistake?

Improper fluid level. Try like they said, drain and refill to proper level.

Why would improper level cause it to be milky? I will drain and refil it though. I followed the haynes manual and put the exact amount in, is the book correct?

Following the little mark on the speedo is hard to really tell

I would think if the level were too low it would allow condesation to somehow build up inside the case.

too high and it will aerate (get millions of super tiny bubbles in it), but I think its water contamination. Drain and refill.
