  • What do you all use in the CV holes when removing tranny?

To keep the inner transmission bearings in place upon tranny removal, what do you all use to stick in the CV holes to keep them from falling out of place? My Festiva has the automatic transaxle.

I have a selection of sticks and stuff, but maybe there is something easier.

I also have a new right side CV axle to compare sizes with my sticks.

I should be removing engine and transmission tomorrow (finally).

Karl I used j/y c/v inner splines with the circlips removed.. I have also used broom sticks and pvc pipes.. but the j/y inner splines worked the best.

Since Zippy is an auto, I also keep an atx set around for towing.

      Thanks DJ!

Now I'll post another question! Not only am I nervous about pulling the 1.3 tomorrow, but now some seals don't seem to fit on my 1.6...

      Arrrggghhhh!!!!

An extra set of splines makes a lot of sense if you have them, but I use #8 rubber stoppers (MTX- I don't know about ATX). Easily available from anyone you know that works in a lab, a scientific supply store, or probably eBay.
