  • What sort of fuel injection is a festiva

Seeing as we only got the carby models up to 94 i was curious to know whether they where

-TBi/Throttle body injection (the 'bubble' Mazda's here were EGI)

    or

    -MPi/ Multi Point injection.

Collecting data for my blueprint

I'm guessing it's sequential, but I don't know for sure.

            Sweet

...and the festiva and Aspire intake manifolds for efi are identical?

Also are the heads identical between carb and efi?

I ask this as there must be a cap/cover for where the mechanical fuel pump goes if they are the same

(I know that the later model festiva/aspires use a different head but we never got EFI festivas here)

Festies were bank-fire (VAF), Aspires were Sequential (MAF)

                  interesting

I just found out Festiva-Trios/Aspires did have the cap on the mechanical fuel at the head. I am tossing up wether i should get a junker ECU or just sticking to an aftermarket either way it's got to cope with a non stock B3

the head may have the hole cast and covered, bu the cam does not have a fuel pump drive lobe. only the mechanical lifter (carbed) cams had them.

Damn that means i have to swap over the cam :s

I was going to get it running on the carb first then switch to efi

All the FI'd Festys I've seen have the lobe on the cam for the fuel pump. In fact my '88 has a FI cam in it now (it's still carbed). It seems they kept the lobe on the cam until they re-designed it for the Aspire for the roller rockers.

yeah i got an aspire head.... the DA chassis festiva was carbed right through to '94 here in Australia.

I keep bouncing between the idea of EFi or Quad-Throttle Body carb. Either way i need to get the motor running on a OEM carb before i try to do anything else.

good point. I forgot about that. I was thinking of the Aspire cam.
