90 festy sometimes won't start

It is a 90 auto.Periodically it will stall on takeoff from a stop sign or light.Then it won't start for a while.sometimes,not often,you will come out from a store or something and it wont start.I know it can be many things.When I bought it from a mechanics shop he said it needed a distributor,but,I drove it home almost 6hrs with no problem.Fuel filter,disty ? One guy said there is gas in the oil recently ???I dunno.

My green car did that before then the dist finally gave it up. Hasn't done it since I replaced the dist.
