  • What racks will fit in a 93 Festiva?

    I need a new steering rack. What years will fit my car? How about Aspires? Mine is currently a manual rack but would also consider going to a power rack.

    It is alot harder to find a PS rack for a Festiva. You might try placing a want ad in the FS forum.

        im pretty sure youll have a hard time finding a power rack, and im nto sure if the 88-89 were different considering i dont see why they would be. but still.

        i would say a rack from a festiva in the year range 90-93.

        rockauto.com has them new (power and manual)

        ACDELCO Part # 3618731 {#88991162}
        GEAR,STRG (REMAN-RACK & PINION-MANUAL)
        * Non-stock item--shipping delayed up to 5 business days
        price core total
        $228.79 $82.50 $311.29

        im not sure if you could swap a rack from another car. but im sure some one here knows for sure.

              I would just replace the manual rack and drive it. Changing to power on a Festiva just seems like sorta crazy. Unless your running a 10 or 12in. steering wheel. But i'm one of those parts left off don't cost nothin kinda guys. Come to think of it. I've never seen one with a power rack.

                I agree -- PS (which I have on my 91GL, which I think was the only year it was offered) is about as useless as the tilt steering wheel on the LX, unless, of course, you don't believe in putting air in your front tires. I can't recall where the PS pump mounts (I'm in ANC and the GL is in SEA) -- does it go the same place as the AC compressor, which would mean you can't have AC and PS on the same car? Or is there an additional belt drive for it. Think, too, about the space it consumes and blocks your access around the engine, such as when you try to get down there to change the oil filter or the alternator, particularly if you tried to put it on a carb'd car with all the emission control stiff. And how many of those precious 58 or 63 hp will it consume?
