My 89 L has a pretty good oil leak, i replaced the valve cover gasket, but still leaks, seems to be coming from back of motor, any ideas.

Fuel pump may be leaking thru the weep hole that's in it. That is what happened on mine.1960 willys pickup

If it is the valve cover gasket, try using high-temp wheel bearing grease on both sides of the gasket. Definitely holds the oil in, and the valve cover comes off real easy the next time you need to get in there.
I also use it on the threads of oil drain plugs, so I don't have to replace the copper or composite washers on them, and the oil filter on its rubber gasket. Never have any leaks. Possibly a head gasket (tho i know it doesnt explain the oil on top of the intake). Or what happend to me right after i rebuilt my car i didnt get all the funk off of my fuel pump washer thingy and it was leaking out of the bottom of that.
In other words
