        Thank you Mechaicaldj.

I have been by NAPA before and was told they didn't have the castellated nut
        and couldn't get them.

But since you posted this, Called another NAPA store.

The part number I am told is 6301643 and 6301644

These are suppose to be the castellated nut according to the sale person for the left and right rear.

I hope this is going to be true.

I ordered nuts for both sides.

Will pick them up on way home.

Will post by picture of what I pick up.

Anybody know the size and thread pitch?

Fastenal can get a few sizes of rh thread. They have a 16m X 2.0 nut but I don't know if that's the right size. I forgot to check on lh thread.

It'd be great if NAPA has both threads.

Rear spindle lock nuts are 16 mm bore X 1.5mm pitch (M16-1.5) & require a 21 mm socket. The "fine (1.5mm) pitch" is one thing that makes them harder to find. Not to mention the RH thread, so I won't mention it. 8)

Uh, Dean, I hate to tell you this but the NAPA photo's for those part numbers you listed are NOT castellated nuts! They're the standard crush nuts we've all come to love. (Or not)

Focustiva: Because I was told it was was impossible to fit a Focus bumper on a Festiva.

Thanks for the thread pitch. Now do you know where to get the nuts?

The rear spindle nuts came in and they were not the Castellated nuts.

While I was there the salesman got out some older books to look at some that may work.

This is some of what was found.

part number 630-1653 Not Castellated nut. Is a M16-1.5, 24 mm Hex, 8mm High Rear- Ford Fiesta 1978-80
                Right hand thread.

Part number 630-1619 Castellated nut Right hand threads only.
                M16-1.5 22mm Hex 12.1mm High. Rear Honda Civic 1973-79

Mechaicaldj can you check your Napa stores your area and get the correct part numbers for the Castellated nuts? Castellated nuts are what came on my 93 Festiva

So thats what the hell thats called! Whoever the idiot was that did some work on Bella put regular nuts on it. And when I took the grease cap off and seen it I knew it wasnt right. But I thought something was wrong because it had a cotter pin and I knew Festivas used stakenuts. But then I thought it may be because its a later build and they may have switched to those instead or something. I kept calling them castle nuts which is probably something else altogether.

With a castellated nut you only get 60 degree increments of adjustment. Is that good enough for correct bearing preload?

You can change the thickness of the washer to fine tune the preload or you could drill an additional hole through the spindle that is 30* offset from the first.

Is it good enough? I think I could get the bearing adjustment a lot more consistent using the castellated nut. Maybe not but I'd like to try it.

                              Will the Aspire nut/cage work on a Festiva i.e., 16 X 1.5?
