Very poor gas mileage(for Aspire anyway)

MY latest tank of gas I got a wapping 28mpg. The previous two were 37ish and 36ish. Now I know winter and cold make you lose a couple mpg... but 8-9mpg?! Is that supposed to happen or is something going on? I use 85 octane BTW. Should I switch to 88?

Don't freak out unless it happens 2 or 3 tanks in a row.

Perhaps you got a short fill this time. Maybe it was the wind. Etc.
