  • Blowby

Over the last year or so, I've been having a problem with blowby from the engine. My air filter pan (carb'd engine) has a puddle of oil in it. The thing would probably be full of oil if it weren't for the air intake hose that acts as a drain - there's oil on the end of it.

This has grown steadily worse. At first there was maybe a little bit of oil in the filter pan. Now, when I wipe the oil out, a few days later the pan will be all oily again.

What's happening to my Festiva? Is the engine about to die? Aside from rebuilding it, is there anything I can do about the blowby?

I don't know if this is a factor, but I poured all 4 quarts of oil in the engine during the last change.

    Regards,
