I went to 2 different stores and a shop in regards to obtaining the correct spark plugs for my 1989 Festiva L. Its a 4 speed with a carb. I have noticed that all places keep asking if i have a VIN number with H or K on it. Mine starts with K, but no one has this option and everyone at these 3 location stated that there wasn't really a difference since the H and K basically referred to parts needed for fuel injected and non injected areas. Let me know what you think and if it is ok to use the H products.

According to AdvanceAuto.com, the same plug part numbers are used with either Vin "H" or Vin "K" Festivas. Vin H has, I think, 23 options, Vin K has 17. Compared 6 or 8 between the lists.
Didn't look at all of them, but for the most part, the parts numbers on plugs are interchangeable between the two motors. Tried to copy links into here, but as soon as I closed the page at AA.com, the links were dead. :tard:
Hope this helps.
So, in answer to your question, nothing bad will happen if you use a Vin K plug on a Vin H engine.
If you go on there, you can use 89L to get Vin H parts, and 88LX to get Vin K parts. Okay, now I'm done editing this post.:pLast edited by batstiva; 08-11-2009, 01:36 PM.

The H or K referred to is not the first one; it is correct that the first position in the VIN merely indicates Korea as country of manufacture. You want the H or K that is in the 8th position in the VIN.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

Either way, the plug part numbers are the same for either H or K.
