        But just a guess!
festiva LCAs and aspire or escort tierod ends are used for the Aspire swap. if he had Aspire LCAs installed as well, the car would destroy the CV axels (Aspire LCAs are longer than the festy's)

          True!
But I beleive Aspire tieod ends are used, along with the aspire CV's axles when the "wide track" convertion is made. Wasn't sure what DJ had done nor what Sim may have done.

Nothing done from me... I thought I remembered a post from DJ saying he replaced them when he got the car (or maybe just one of them), but can't search back on his posts anymore.

              just oil & filter now

What ever happened to lube, oil & filter?
Whose bright idea was it to get rid of all the grease fittings on all of the moving ball joints?
It is a lot less expensive to gun a little lube than to replace tie rod ends and get a new alignment done.

The parts manufacturer of course. Less labor for manufacturing - don't need to drill and tap a hole for the grease fitting and they can sell more parts because they wear out sooner. It's a win, win situation for them.
                You gonna race that thing?

I just did mine too (both), bought Moog. Cost $200. Took two hours, part of which is me futzing around and looking at stuff. Went very well--used PB Blaster but didn't need to. Everything came off easily. Was wondering how to get old one off when I discovered you just have to tap them off with a hammer, after removing the pinch bolts. New ones went in even easier. Saved $300 over having the shop do them--they were gonna charge $167 each for the LCAs (musta been the platinum ones), and $80 each for installation.

He said the old ones were about to fall off, but it didn't look to me like the balls would have gotten out; maybe coulda gotten more life out of them with some grease and duct tape (the rubber covers had rotted away).

Now I gotta go check Blue to see how his are.

Just got back from the inspection place, so they could verify the LCA repair so I could get my inspection sticker. The guy who checked it out (Seth) noticed that the motor didn't sound stock; His eyes about jumped out of his head when he saw the Escort GT motor! :-) Showed him the fordfestiva.com sticker on the back window; I think he'll be looking in on us...

The SHOgun should have been a factory option!
