  • Runs on Starter fluid, Not Gas?

So i have an injected 91 that will run fine off strting fluid. When you hook everything back up, it wont work. I have a festiva pump in a boat motor that i use for my race cars and nothing. I hook the pump lines directly to the in and out ports on the motor(no filter) I know its pumping gas in. Whats my issue?

    Bad injectors or weak spark.

So, for about the same price as a fully-loaded 1993 Ford Festiva, you could also wield the power to obliterate a small village in the blink of an eye.

Possible blown EGI fusable link in the main block under the hood by the battery.

just replaced the links with the big plastic fuses. Could it be the injectors? When i spray starting fluid into the intake, wont it get to the injectors?

OK. So from reading your original post I'm assuming you're bypassing the stock fuel system all together with a boat tank and Festy fuel pump directly to the lines in the engine compartment. If that's the case and it's running on starting fluid then I would check to see if there is any electricity at the injectors. May want to check all the fuses in the dash. The starting fluid is not going THRU the injectors but simply going past them. The starting fluid is being brought into the cylinders much like a wet intake with the injectors on a GM TBI system works. Did the car just quit while driving or did you buy it like this??

More simply the ethyl ether (starting fluid) is brought into the cylinder with the air through the intake valve.
Doesn't go through the injector at all.
Are you sure you have hooked-up the fuel lines correctly.
Happens to the best of us at time easy to miss too.
Make sure the input to the fuel regulator and fuel rail is not going to were the fuel return should be and vice versa!
This will cause a "no start" condition.
Doesn't explain why it was running fine when parked and no start now.
Check fuses as above and fuel cut off switch behind the driver side rear strut tower.

fuel switch is fine. fuses fine. I belive i have the lines right. Just to check, the input line is the one on top thet feeds through the filter first right? and the return line is the bottom, right?

                  Not following you!

                  How about this:

Fuel input goes from bottom of fuel filter through filter, out the top and into a tube on the driver divers side of the fuel rail. This tube then goes to the pass. side of the fuel rail where it then connects into the fuel rail.

The fuel return line comes out of the bottom of the fuel regulator and passes to the left of the fuel filter on its way back to the tank.

if the pump can't hold pressure, the injectors won't be able to fire properly. check your pressure.

ok then either its spark (wich you say you have), or it's injector signal (check with a noid light).
