  • FIXED!!! but more advice needed...

FINALLY! i have replaced my speedo cable and it works! Also the turnsignals that randomly stopped working while fiddlein with the cluster. But of course now i got another problem. One of my plugs melted to engine so what would be a good performance set to look for???(and plugs).

Second, since my crank and cam seals are leaking what would be a good oil change solution to help keep it safe until i can replace them?

Third Tranny fluid.... How much? Wat type? and any other tips to help me with the transfer.

thx guys for all comments and such.

as far as tranny fluid, i just have 30w oil in there.... fill 'er up to the mark on the speedo gear.. of course the haynes says "Mercon ATF" and the quantity is 2.6 qts

as far as oil change solution, just keep it at regular change intervals and check the level every week or so depending on how much is leaking out. important thing is it doesn't get too low.

as far as plug wires go, someone else will have to chime in for a good performance set.

Any plug wires will do. I recommend ngk. Cheap and oem like. They even have #s on them. Your not really gonna gain anything by spending alot on wires. Just make sure to put holders on them so they don't get burned. And so they look nice.

don't use anything but Mercon, you don't want to mix gear oil and ATF (bad combo)

          I'm partial to NGKs: BPR6EY11.

Try putting some seal restorer in your oil when you do the next change; sometimes that will help a lot. Maybe use a little thicker oil, like 10W40.

for flush, here is what i did.. may or may not be protocol..

put in gear oil, put it all back together and drove for 20ish miles, then drained it, and put in new fresh 30w....
thats just to make sure all the ATF is out...

In new Zealand we can buy a product known as an oil stabiliser and its called MOREY"S OIL STABILISER and if my memory serves me well its a US product, this stuff is great as an oil additive and it will help to seal leaks and the engine just loves it, I have also got a wonky tranny and I put about half a litre (about half a pint for you guy's) in to the tranny box and it has helped with sticking gears and it has smoothed up the transmission (albiet short term).
