map light noise when "on"

I updated my interior light with the escort map/dome light. I was driving lastnight when my son turned on the map light to check his school schedule. The buzzer for the door started to make noise(as if the door was open). When the map light was turned off the noise stopped.

Did I hook up the wire wrong or is this something I have to accept with the upgrade.

I would mess with it now but I unfortunatly cut the wires really short....I wanted to fix the problem when I refurbish the headliner.

shouldn't do that... maybe a grounding issue and/or wiring.

Ok here are the two diagrams you will need:


looking at the diagram you may have your two wires backwards on your domelight try switching the White with red stripe with the Red with blue stripe - what it is most likely doing is running through the light bulb to the ground when you turn the dome light to on; because the buzzer only works when a ground is applied by the devices it is hooked to. the reason the buzzer and the light are connected is because they share a common ground through the door switches (when the dome is in that mode)

Festiva Tunner.... the diagram will help me alot when I get to it. I am heading back to work (3RD Shift) after being off for 6 weeks due to a foot operation so I know I will not get any time until this holiday weekend.
