Are fuel sending units interchangable amoungst all Festiva production years?
I have 1988 carbed festy. Wondering if a 1993 send unit will work on my 1988?

There are universal sending unit kits for any gas tank, its just float setup with aftermarket gauge on dash. You have to make new hole and leave old sending unit if it has fuel pickup tube built into it. Anyway I got one of the universal kits from JCWhitney during one of their free shipping deals with no minimum purchase for like $25 last winter to put on my old F250. Better quality than one would expect and was lot cheaper than OEM style sender at parts stores. Dont see any reason it wouldnt work on carb Festiva tank. Includes a chart how to adjust based on depth of tank. Just be very careful using any tools on tank that could cause sparks. Even empty tank has explosive vapors. Can totally fill tank with water or other methods or just use tools that wont spark. Be very careful though.
Now I've never priced a Festiva sending unit, it might be cheap or close out or something. If so thats way to go. But if its some crazy price and you dont mind mounting an aftermarket gauge on your dash someplace then the universal kit is pretty good option.
I dont mind price as much as not having a working gas gauge. Dealer says "discontinued". My only options are a used one or maybe the aftermarket one suggested, but I would prefer one made for the car.
Thanks to all......
