poor idling and accelerating

hey guys
ok so ive had this problem since ive bought car about 7500 miles ago.
it idles rough and hesitates while accelerating,
until the engine is warmed up then it runs pretty good.
it also blows the main fusable link.

today on my way home from work it was running really poor
and about a mile from work the fusable link blew.
after it blew i turned off and noticed it was running really smooth.
ok so i know i must have a short or something.
but where?
what would cause the car to run bad until that fuse is toast then run good?

Think somethings wrong with your charging circuit.
But, would have expected the charge light to illuminate if voltage was low.
Provided the light isn't burnt out or missing.

if you're blowing your main link and the car still runs there's a short to power somewhere. also have your ALT tested for ripple (AC).
