When to resurface cyl head?

Just checked my cyl head. Question is how much warpage is ok? #3 cyl has a .016 inch gap in the center, between 3 and 2. There is a .013 inch gap between 3 and 4. Seems like a new headgasket could absorb this much warpage without resurfacing?

Also how many dowel pins are their on the cyl head? 2 or 4?

Have it plained....35-40 bucks. 2 allignment pins

assuming your talking thousands 13-16 between cylinders is too much.

Usually a good idea to at least have the head resurfaced any time it is removed (even if it appears to be "flat"). The head gasket has a much better seal against a freshly surfaced aluminum head. If you have any warpage at all, get it trued.

To answer the second question, if I remember correctly, there are (2) locater rings, each around a head bolt. Don't try to get by without them!
