  • Broken lug

I was working on the car today and was trying to get the front wheels off the car.... but I had one lug that just wouldn't budge.

It broke off! The head broke off of the threads and the threads are still down in the hole!

Has anyone had this happen before?

How in the heck am I going to repair this?!? How in the heck am I going to get the stuck part out if it wouldn't even budge before?!?

I've got a feeling I'm either going to have to replace the hub or drill it out.

    Suggestions/recommendations please!

Hit it with PB Blast then let it soak. Hit it some more. You may end up having to heat it with a torch and working it out that way. You could also try tightening it to see if it breaks free that way, then you may be able to get it out.

Man, that sucks. Since the bolt head snapped off, I'd say you're looking at either drilling or hub replacement.

Guess you could try TONYCASH's trick, and dremmel a slot in the end of it, hit it with a crap load of PB, and see if it'll come out that way. If you try that, just make sure you are able to slot it deep without messing up the hub.

Drill it and use a easy out. If you don't want to do that . Bring the hub up to Raleigh and exchange it for one I have here at no charge.
