  • '87 1.3 5 speed rebuilt carburetor/rebuild kit

I've got an '87 that needs either a rebuilt carburetor or a carb rebuild kit. I haven't had much luck in finding either. If anyone knows where I can get a rebuild kit or a rebuilt carb, it would be much appreciated.

Edit yourlocation info. Carb rebuild kits can be had for a decent price.

If you are looking for '87 kit, that may be the problem. No official '87 Festivas in parts look up. All the carbs are same so look for '88 or '89 kit. NAPA or any chain parts store should have it or at least be able to order it. I suspect around $25 to $30. Factory rebuilt carbs for Festiva are crazy priced like most feedback carbs. RockAuto.com will special order you one for a mere $500 plus $85 core charge...... Heck at such a bargain price, might get couple spares, huh?

If you end up not being able to rebuild nor find good used one, might consider going to Weber or Carter-Weber carb. When I put in 1.6L, I switched to Weber and am very happy with it. One I used, I saved off an old VW I used to own. There is another guy on this board that used a Carter-Weber (Weber design carb made under license by Carter) from like an '80 or '81 Ford Escort on his 1.3L and likes it very much. They are cheap off ebay or there is a guy that bought up a truck load of these new old stock carbs for early 1.6L Escort and sells them to people wanting triple carb setup on old American straight sixes. Brand new never used carb for $80. I posted link in another thread sometime back, dont have it handy at moment. You do either have to make your own adapter or there is a place TominMO found that sells Weber adapters and again dont have link handy though posted multiple times if you do search. Its one for like a 1981 front drive Mazda GLC (has to be the front drive GLC). Last year for non-feedback carbs. Weber didnt make conversions for feedback carbs, but that one year was a non-feedback with same bolt pattern and Weber has an adapter. I made my own adapter so cant say from personal experience that the GLC adapter is absolutely correct, but sure looks like it and its like $41 so affordable if you dont want to make your own.
