i noticed today that my speedo is bouncing around and not show proper speed. what would cause this

You might try lubing your speedo cable'90 LX -
yep- mine was doing the same and some graphite lube fixed it.
On a side note- when its below 20 degrees F outside in the winter, in the mornings going to work it bounces a little....... but by afternoon its Ok...
