  • Longer lasting exhaust components?

The long pipe between the catalytic converter & the muffler keeps rusting out on the muffler end (about 1/2 inch from the flange) on all 3 of my Festivas. I am in Pennsylvania. The pipes only last about 2 years. I have been using Walker brand pipe. Does anyone know of a better made (thicker wall) pipe that may last longer? I don't want to pay the cost of a stainless steel system. The Walker pipes generally run $80-$100 each.

Found by stripping the machine oil off the pipe with brake cleaner and then using a high temp paint it will help with the longevity of the mid-pipe.
Nothings going to beat a SS exhaust.
Yes, costly up front, but never needs replacement unless gaskets burn through or is physically damaged.
Seriously thought about buying one and moving from car to car as necessary.
With SS nuts and bolts (a little anti-seize as well) and its a pretty quick operation.

Bend aluminum or brass pipe to fit? Neither rusts. Cut off and bolt on steel flanges. Check heat tolerance first.

Yeah, paint it with high-temp exhaust paint with ceramic in it.

Al will not hold up to Cat exhaust heat on "light off" and not sure of brass cost vs SS.
Then there's the issue of dissimilar metals in a corrosive environment.
Not sure it will be easy or cheap to attached steel flanges to Al or brass.
