  • Ignition Coil from another car

    First, for Mechanicaldj's reading pleasure

    YEAR: 1990
    MAKE FORD duh
    MODEL: FESTIVA
    DESIGNATION: LX
DOORS: 3 (A hatch is considered a door by insurrance companies and I have used it as a door on several occasions )
    TRANSMISSION: MANUAL 5sp
ACCESSORIES MODIFICATIONS OR UPGRADES: Dome Map light, Tach Cluster, Intermittent Wipers

I know the earlier and later models have the coil integral to the distributor and only a few year (incl the 1990) has it seperately. Sorry if I can't be more specific for know, but it's described as such in the Haynes (which I left at home) I need to go junkyard hunting for an ignition coil. Can I look for a coil off a different car (323, Escort?) just looking for more options...
I will NOT drive a minivan

    I believe a protege 1.8 sohc should work, like a 92, 94
1996 Aspire, 2DR 5SPD 185 60 14, Aluminum rims, Mild Stereo system, some neon tubes, 185 000 km not a speck of rust runs like a champ
    B8-ME Swap COMPLETED.

Both my '93GL and my '89L have separate coils. Both use the same distributor cap and rotor.

I'm not sure if the coils are the same though. I should look. I should also look at a 323!

      Sorry I ain't more helpful.
