3 spd auto that is functioning fine as far as I can tell. How much maintenance needs to be done and how often. Any special fluids of filters. Is there a shift kit for this type of transmission. Any information is appreciated

you should change the fluid every 60k miles, the sump filter at least every 120k. Other than that.... nothing.
No shift kits I'm aware of.

my zip is 21921. You may want to reconsider your offer, depending on how much shipping is. Anyone local to me want to donate an auto trans for performance development?Jim DeAngelis

well, the original question was whether or not any performance enhancements exsisted for the Festy 3spd, to which I was offering my assistance.
However, you bring up a valid point. I don't know how much the Festy 3spd weighs, but I can you first hand that the 4EAT out of the Capri is one HEAVY mother! Also, if folks want to run the stock b3 or b6 sohc, I don't see any great advantages to swapping to the 4EAT, especially since it requires electronic control, whereas the Festy auto is all mechanical control. So, if a BP or B6T is making its making its way into the engine compartment, then the Capri/EGT/TLTS 4EAT would be a good upgrade. Otherwise, some performancemods to Festy trans would be nice to have for the B3/B6 sohc crowd.Jim DeAngelis

Jim, I was thinking about eventually putting in the Aspire 3 speed auto with lockup torque convertor from the later models.
It would have a lower final drive for more mechanical advantage off the line, and the third gear lockup might make up most of the highway mpg loss of that lower final drive.
What do you think of this and how would you mod the tranny for performance?
