  • Unsteady acceleration

My stock Festiva has really unsteady acceleration. Even when my foot is to the floor you can feel the car accelerating fast, then slower, then fast again, then slower. Any ideas? I've tried adjusting the tps but I can't seem to get it right if that's what it is.

My aspire does it too. Felt mostly under moderate acceleration.

this may not be your problem but it solved mine...just as you described. i bought a new set of plug wires a while ago and dumbasses at autozone gave me a short main coil wire. i had to bend the bracket it mounts on to get it closer to the distributor....every now and then the motor movement pulls the wire a little out of the coil and makes heavy accelerating verry sluggish. check your wires good...make sure your coil wire isnt all corroded inside the terminals. sure did fix my problem

I knew a guy had the same problem with his car, but it turned out he had Tourette's syndrome in his foot

... you should see him try to stop

Not the wires. I got a few festiva's so I am going to try switching the coils on em and see if that helps any.
