  • Water, water, everywhere....

I was driving home from a band gig last night, when I noticed things were floating down in the floor pans! 3:00 am, it was a pouring down rain, on the drive home, so I reached and put my hand down on the floor pan and it was close to an inch deep! All 4 pans. WTH! Its been raining for 3 weeks here and never got any wet/damp spots that I have noticed, but last night it was really comin down. I sucked out 3 gallons of water with my wet/dry.
Anyone else have this happen? How is the water getting in? I notice my rear side windows dont always look like they're sealing that well, but ALL 4 PANS filling with 1" of water is just nuts. Seems like it would only be the rear pans that would get wet if it was the rear windows. Anybody got any ideas on this? Thanks in advance...Dan

1rst contestant: Take your rocker trim off, peel the carpet back, and look for holes in the torque box seam to the rear floorboard area. Also bad about rusting seams under the drivers floorboard area. Look for rustout on the front edge of the rear wheelwells, and around to the inner area behind. A hole there will fill the torque box, and fill the floor boards.
2nd contestant: leak around the tail light gaskets.

      Been there.

I found that when my spare tire well was filling up, it was the seals around my tailights...there is an excellent "how-to" fix that here:

Funny....there used to be pics of the procedure there....anyway, it's a great low-cost fix.

(contestant#1) Thanks for the cool info. I will look @ rocker. My festy is pretty rust free, but, ya just never know what can lurk in those hidden areas!
Just waiting on some sun. Saw it this evening just before dark and it almost scared me. I thought it was a nuclear blast or something. Forgot what the sun looked like!

Try living on the northern Oregon coast. It's like this 11 months a year!

Just went out and checked the two cars not in the garage....Blue (which I did the taillight seals on) only had a slight hint of water in the trunk. It also has duct tape around the upper and inner side of the lights. Casper had about 1 inch in the rear third of the wheel well (it's facing uphill), so I let out two of the drain plugs. Casper also has duct tape, just on the top of the taillights, and no new seal. No water anywhere else in either car.
