  • Inner tie rod???

Replaced the outer tie rod ends on dad's 91 Thursday and I noticed the drivers side was alot loser than the passengers. Slapped some grease in the inner tie rod (if you call it that)... better but still not tight. The rack off of our parts car was about the same. Has anybody replaced one yet.. doesn't look like a easy job.

BTW his car was shaking which prompted this work. Still does it afterwards. I seem to think its the old rim on the front drivers side. It's off of my 88 that got kissed on the front-end so I know it's bent. And I seem to remember telling him this. But it still ends up on there, I guess i'm going to have to hide it from him. What's funny is as many times as we dealt with this we both still forget. It's amusing when you have 2 guys working on a project that has the memory capacities of gold fish.

you need a special tool to remove the one way pin (the hole does not go all the through the rack and inner tie rod end) .

(i have the tool and i will never give it up for anything) :!:

or you can spend alot of time drilling it out.

then you can use a wrench to remove the inner tie rod end.

or try to find a better rack at the bone yard.
