  • Heater/Ventilation problem

For whatever reason, I get only cold outside air from my dash vents. The defroster gives air as selected (warm/cool) as does the floor. It doesn't matter if recirculate or fresh is selected, or where i put the outlet selector, cold air comes through the dash. Fan off, no help, but the higher the fan, the more comes through. These 30-40° mornings are hard to fight with it.

Help, suggestions, or starting places, please?

ok. then how do i make it stop blowing anything, epecially cold. I can't get enough from the top and bottom to counteract the middle to a comfortable temp.

just keep the setting on floor or defrost and turn the cab selection to recirc....helps keep out the cool air. As Chris said....these cars are designed that way and there is no way around it.

It blows cold from the dash no matter where the outlet or source are set, even with the fan off.

right....but it is less if it is on recirc instead of fresh air. You can take the bezel off and stuff the vents with something for the winter...I usually do that and it works great.

well I doubt they meant it to blow cold....that I am sure is an issue with a door not closing all the way when move the lever to what ever you want to select. Some are worse then others.

Its possible maybe some dirt or something is blocking one of the doors from fully closing which is causing the constant airflow, i noticed my red car does the same thing where as my green one didn't so i can only assume that something is causing the door to not fully close, but since i don't plan on driving my red car over the winter i'm not going to try and fix it

I cut two rectangular pieces of foam the size of the vents, remove the panel cover and block them off in the winter. It makes a graet deal of difference in warmth in the interior. Just be sure to remember to remove them in the summer. There is a sheet of foam that deteriorates and opens up a hole in the door to make matters worse on the plenum. Why they had a hole in the middle of that door in the first place is beyond me...

I resealed where the fresh air duct attaches under the dash. you could feel cold air leak in before it got to the fan/heater core. adhesive backed weatherstripping worked well.

tip your passenger seat back (all the way ) and sit backwards (polish style) and get your head under the dash look for the big square box (move your air recirculation button) you'll see the piece move
