Alternator question....

    Alternator question....

    I have a stock 93 with a bad alt. I do have an alt. from an 88. The difference that i see between the two is the pully size (no biggy), the battery post is smaller (no biggy i think), and the 2 wire plug. the 93 has a plug that looks like || and the 88 has a -| . How can i make this work? Can it? Does it matter what wire goes where? This is the regulator side of things, right?

    In the 90's we had Clinton in office. We also had Bob Hope and Johnny Cash. Now we have Obama in office and we have no Hope and no Cash.

    the wires do matter, if in the wrong place, bad things happen. get a wiring diagram and a multimeter and then splice the proper connector to the propper wires and you'll be good.
    Trees aren't kind to me...

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
    94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

      I had a 93 and used a 88 alternator.
      It lasted 4 years.

      Just changed the end plug.

        i looked at the wiring diagrams i found here. I guess i am confused on which wires go where. Best i can read them is that they both go back to positive wires. Help me out, i am diagram illiterate....among other things. What am i looking for when i test the wires?
